Yesterday, I took Alston for his 9 months’ check up. Even though he’s technically 9 and a half months, it was the first appointment they had available. I haven’t had to take Alston to the Dr. since he’s become mobile, so I brought the stroller to keep him contained. We sang ‘Itsy Bitsy Spider’ and waited to see Dr. Harmon.

Alston weighs 19 lbs., 2 oz. and is 28 inches long. Dr. Harmon doesn’t put too much emphasis on percentiles, but I was curious, so I asked. He said Alston is in the 25th for his height and the 30th for his weight. That means he weighs the same as 1/4 of boys his age and is the same height as 1/3 of boys his age. Is that good or bad? It’s confusing, but Dr. harmon said his growth looks great from where he’s been in the past and he’s progressing regularly. Good enough for me!

These are the things I told Dr. Harmon that Aslton is doing:
He’s taking up to 3-4 steps
He can these words very clearly: ‘hey’, ‘bye bye’, ‘go’, ‘dada’
He also says these words: ‘mmm good’, ‘dog’, ‘cat’, ‘deuce’, ‘range’, ‘mama’
He isn’t having constipation issues anymore {to which Dr. Harmon cheered, “Yay!”}
He is going to sleep on his own and sleeping through the night {to which I cheered, “Yay!”}
He laughs and plays and interacts–which relieves any fears of autism {Thanks be to Jesus!}

The doctor gave us a great report so we went out to celebrate.
Alston and I have never eaten at a sit-down restaurant without help from someone else. Yesterday, it was time for his dinner, so I decided to try it out alone. I had a hankering for a Pig in the Garden salad from Jim N Nicks. We got a table for two {one and a half} and I fed Alston some dinner while I waited on mine. While I ate my salad, he enjoyed the insides of several corn muffins. Quite the little gentleman. Our first mommy-son date. I loved it.
